Dear wonderful members of the TeaforTwo Community:

My name is Allison Lawler, and I work with the Wicked Winter Renaissance Faire (www.wickedfaire.com) - a convention in New Jersey, now going into its fifth year, which has about 2500 attendees yearly.

This year's theme is The Mad Tea Party, and we are going to have a tea party going through most of the event. AND WE ARE SEEKING YOUR TEA!

Would you be interested in sending us some samples and some promotional materials, both of which we can distribute at our tea party? The party will be right in the hotel lobby; it should get some excellent exposure, and many tea lovers will try it!

Yours sincerely,

Allison Lawler

PLEASE feel free to message me any questions concerning the event, as well as if you are interested. Or leave a comment and I'll message you the company address of Widdershins, LLC. (This is the company putting on Wicked Faire.)

Free Twinings Tea! [Dec. 21st, 2009|10:29 am]

Twinings have a free tea offer to UK residents at the moment. You can get samples of two of their teas from a selection. Here. Thought this might interest some of you.

On another note, I am searching for a shop (online or street) that sells Celestial Seasonings tea in the UK. The only one I've found is Sleepytime and while I do love that tea, I love the range that they do. Can anyone help? Or does anyone know of a company that makes similar teas that are available in the UK? Thanks!

Maple in tea. [Dec. 14th, 2009|02:51 pm]

Having recently run out of natural honey, (and unwilling to use refined sugar, as i hate how it feels on my teeth) i was digging through the pantry for an appropriate substitute.

Maple syrup? Okay, i'll try that.

OMG. So yummy.

Since then, i've been changing it up a bit between the honey and the maple, as my mood dictates. Does anyone else use maple, or is this just me?

Tea and Sleep [Dec. 14th, 2009|02:17 pm]

I've been researching tea and caffeine for some time now, and I decided to see if there is any research on tea's effect on sleep...beyond just the effects of caffeine. It turns out that there is! I collected what I could find and wrote an article on tea and sleep:

The gist of it is that (a) tea has caffeine which can disrupt sleep but (b) tea is less disruptive of sleep than coffee (c) tea has other benefits relating to sleep. I also touch on herbal teas but that's a whole other topic...

If anyone knows of any other studies / articles about tea and sleep, I would be very interested in reading these, and incorporating the information into my page. Thanks!

101 Arabian Nights [Dec. 11th, 2009|08:54 am]

In the chocolate museum in Köln, Germany, I found a few bottles of mixed spices by a company called Spirit of Spice. I picked up a grinder bottle of Arabian Nights and just finally got around to bringing it into work and trying it in my chai. OMG tasty! This is definitely a keeper, and I'll probably find a way to zing up a whole lot more than chai.

Arabian Nights is a blend of chocolate, rock sugar, orange peel, cardamom, cinnamon, orange blossom, and marigold blossom.

Adagio's 'Savoury Teas' [Dec. 10th, 2009|10:01 pm]

Adagio Teas produces a lot of flavored teas and they've got a huge array of flavors in all tea types. When I got my most recent order from them it came with a free sample set of their new Savory Teas. The idea of which was, instead of the usual 'sweet' tea flavourings, they would produce a handful of teas that were based on savory foods instead. So feeling adventurous (and not being able to say 'no' to free tea) I decided to be their guinea pig and try them all out. Here's my thoughts and each of the teas:
